A 32-year-old Renton man was discovered dead in his burning home on Sunday afternoon.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., the Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to a fire in the 1600 block of Pierce Avenue Southeast. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to a single room of the house.
Sunday evening, the fire authority had not announced the cause of the fire. The Renton Police Department dispatched officers and detectives to the scene, and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death by examining the body.
A second person was rescued from the house without suffering any injuries. According to Renton police captain Chandler Swain, two additional roommates were not at home during the fire.
